Welcome to Dylan’s Hoop Dispatch, a college hoops newsletter by Dylan Burkhardt.

If you don’t know me, I’ve covered college hoops for the last decade at UM Hoops.com and also podcast about Michigan, Michigan State and the Big Ten on The Moving Screen.

That job description means that I’m generally consumed with Big Ten hoops. I’ve spent time in web development and sports analytics, but my focus always comes back to college basketball.

I'm creating this newsletter as an outlet to share my thoughts on college hoops, especially in the Big Ten. The content will focus on analytics, data visualization and understanding the sport as a whole. Expect heavy doses of tempo-free stats, shot charts and other numbers-forward ways to think about the game.

I plan to experiment with different types of content and expect this project to iterate quickly. That will include game-by-game recaps of league action, previews of big games, focused deep-dives, links to the best college hoops content I've read, power rankings and potentially anything else.
